The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine is a 3-year ACGME-accredited program designed to train physicians in the comprehensive care of critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. The fellowship is built around four key pillars—clinical excellence, research and scholarship, structured mentorship, and education—and provides intensive hands-on experience in high-acuity settings across UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals in San Francisco and Oakland. Fellows are exposed to a wide spectrum of conditions including pediatric trauma, organ transplantation, cardiac surgery, and complex medical illnesses, while also developing skills in advanced life support, multidisciplinary care, and clinical decision-making. The program integrates clinical training with research, teaching, and quality improvement, preparing graduates for leadership roles in pediatric intensive care units and academic medicine.
