The Trauma Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is a 12-month advanced training program based at Alabama’s only American College of Surgeons (ACS)-certified Level I Trauma Center. The fellowship provides comprehensive experience in pelvic and acetabular fractures, periarticular reconstruction, polytrauma management, nonunions, malunions, and complex reconstructive techniques including the Ilizarov method. Fellows rotate through three four-month blocks with trauma-trained faculty and typically spend three to four days per week in the operating room, with dedicated clinic and research time. The program also includes weekly fracture conferences, grand rounds, research opportunities, and progressively increasing responsibility in the operating room and clinic.
