The Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides advanced clinical and surgical training in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related musculoskeletal injuries. Fellows gain extensive experience in arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures involving the knee, shoulder, hip, and elbow, along with exposure to ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, shoulder instability, joint replacement, and hip preservation. The program also provides experience as team physicians for high school, collegiate, professional, and Division I athletes, along with sports rehabilitation, athletic training room coverage, research, anatomy laboratory sessions, and regular educational conferences.
