Overview
- The aim of this course is comprehensive training of a pathologist (MD/DNB) in the various aspects and modalities of Oncopathology,including developing an aptitude for research. The fellow will assist the staff Pathologist’s in consultative interpretation of all surgical pathology and cytopathology material accessioned in the lab. The fellow will also be trained in various grossing techniques in surgical Oncopathology. Fellows will be encouraged to communicate and discuss the clinical nuances of the referral cases with the referring clinicians. The Fellowship program will involve training in frozen section reporting and introduction to basic molecular pathology techniques. The immunohistochemistry repertoire includes more than 170 diagnostic antibodies,several in situ hybridization tests and companion diagnostic assays. The fellow will be expected to participate in journal club presentations under guidance of the mentor. Research and publication of research papers would be highly encouraged and at least one publication is expected compulsory for completion of the program.
