The Neurosurgical Oncology Fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine, Aurora is a one-year advanced fellowship designed to develop highly skilled neurosurgeons in the comprehensive management of central nervous system (CNS) cancer patients. The program combines intensive clinical and operative training with cadaver-based microsurgical practice, research, and academic activities. Fellows receive training in CNS tumor diagnosis and management, complex tumor resection, intraoperative brain mapping, awake craniotomy, navigation, skull-base and endoscopic approaches, spine and peripheral nerve tumors, and cancer-related pain procedures. The fellowship also emphasizes multidisciplinary care through tumor boards and active participation in resident teaching, weekly academic sessions, research projects, and publications.
