Overview

The Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a focused one-year super-specialty training program designed to develop advanced expertise at the intersection of ophthalmology and neurology. Fellows receive extensive exposure to optic neuropathies, papilledema, visual field defects, cranial nerve palsies, diplopia, and neuro-degenerative visual disorders. Training emphasizes comprehensive clinical evaluation, neuro-imaging interpretation, electrophysiology, and coordination with neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and endocrinology services. Fellows actively participate in multidisciplinary clinics, inpatient consultations, and academic case discussions. The program stresses evidence-based diagnosis, longitudinal patient care, and diagnostic precision. Teaching of residents and involvement in clinical research and scholarly activity are integral components. Graduates are well prepared for academic careers or advanced subspecialty practice in neuro-ophthalmology.
