Fellowship in Neuro Oncology

1. Applicants should have completed appropriate residency training in neurology or another qualifying medical specialty relevant to neuro-oncology.
2. Candidates must meet the medical licensing and credentialing requirements applicable to UAB and the State of Alabama.
3. Applicants should have a strong interest in neuro-oncology and the management of primary and metastatic brain tumors.
4. Candidates should be able to participate in clinical care, multidisciplinary treatment, and research activities.
5. Applicants must fulfill UAB Graduate Medical Education requirements before beginning fellowship training

The Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides specialized training in the clinical management and research of patients with primary and metastatic brain tumors. Fellows gain hands-on experience in outpatient and inpatient brain tumor care, including the use of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and emerging experimental treatments. The program also offers opportunities in clinical, basic, and translational research, including clinical trials and advanced magnetic resonance imaging research. Fellows work closely with neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, neuroradiologists, and neuro-oncologists in a multidisciplinary environment. The fellowship is offered as a one-year or two-year program
