Fellowship in Neuro muscular Medicine

The Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a one-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited program providing comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of adult and pediatric neuromuscular disorders. Fellows gain extensive clinical experience in general and specialty neuromuscular clinics, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, neuropathy, radiculopathy, myopathy, and neuromuscular junction disorders. Training includes electrodiagnostic studies such as nerve conduction studies, electromyography, repetitive nerve stimulation, and evoked potentials, along with neuromuscular pathology and biopsy interpretation. The program also provides exposure to autonomic testing, inpatient neuromuscular care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research opportunities.

1. The program participates in the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) Fellowship Match.
2. Applicants must submit the initial application and supporting documents through the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) Fellowship Match Portal.
3. Submit an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
4. Submit a personal statement describing the reasons for applying, career plans, and how the fellowship will support career development.
5. Submit three letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with the applicant's professional abilities.
6. One recommendation letter should preferably be from the applicant's Residency Program Director or Department Chair.
7. Selected applicants proceed through the fellowship's selection/interview process.
