The Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a one-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited program providing comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of adult and pediatric neuromuscular disorders. Fellows gain extensive clinical experience in general and specialty neuromuscular clinics, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, neuropathy, radiculopathy, myopathy, and neuromuscular junction disorders. Training includes electrodiagnostic studies such as nerve conduction studies, electromyography, repetitive nerve stimulation, and evoked potentials, along with neuromuscular pathology and biopsy interpretation. The program also provides exposure to autonomic testing, inpatient neuromuscular care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research opportunities.
