Fellowship in Neuro Critical Care

1. Must have completed or be completing an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited residency in Neurology, Internal Medicine, Neurosurgery, or Emergency Medicine before the July 1 fellowship start date.
2. Must be board certified or board eligible in the residency specialty.
3. Must provide 3 letters of recommendation from the supervisor, residency program director, and department chair.
4. For applicable international medical graduates, an Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certificate is required.

The Neurocritical Care Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is a two-year advanced training program focused on the acute and critical care of patients with neurological conditions. UTHSC is a public academic health science institution focused on medical education, healthcare, research, and professional training, with clinical education provided through affiliated hospitals and healthcare facilities. The fellowship provides intensive training in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, along with exposure to stroke, neuro-oncology, status epilepticus, neuromuscular diseases, spinal emergencies, traumatic brain injury, and postoperative neurosurgical care. Fellows also receive training in critical care electroencephalography, multimodality monitoring, clinical research, advanced bedside ultrasound, airway management, vascular access, and bedside percutaneous tracheostomy. UTHSC supports biomedical and clinical research, innovation, and community health initiatives, with the broader aim of advancing healthcare through education, research, clinical practice, and service.
