Overview

    The goal is to train the Ophthalmologists who have recently completed their residency program of MD/ MS/ Diploma (DOMS) through intensive training and to impart skills in the recent advances in the diagnosis and management of Vitreo-Retinal diseases. The course curriculum include exposure to Medical Retina cases under Retina specialists guidance, exposure to Uveitis cases including emergencies, Management of Endophthalmitis and training of the use of basic diagnostic equipment.

    DIAGNOSTIC TRAINING:

    • Confocal Fundus Photography
    • Fundus Fluorescein Angiography( Heidelberg )
    • ICG Angiography( Heidelberg )
    • Ultrasonography ( Bscan)
    • SD – OCT ( Heidelberg )
    • OCT – Angiography ( Cirrus & Heidelberg )

    PROCEDURAL TRAINING:

    • Slit Lamp biomicroscopy
    • Indirect Ophthalmoscopy
    • Fundus Biomicroscopy (90D/78D)
    • PASCAL Laser
    • Use of slit lamp
    • Indirect Ophthalmoscope delivery modes for laser treatment of retinal disorders
    • Photo Dynamic Therapy
    • Hands on training of Intravitreal injections

    ACADEMICS & TRAINING:

    • Journal Club – Once a Week
    • Case Presentation – Once a Week
    • Didactic Lectures – Twice a Month
    • Discussion on Diagnostic tests in the clinical OPD
    • Observation of patient examination
    • Take part in overall patient management
    • Observe and perform independently Laser Coagulations both by slit lamps and indirect delivery method
    • Hands on training of Intravitreal injections

    TRAINEE's ASSESSMENT:

    The trainee's performance will be evaluated regularly. Trainees are encouraged to discuss all aspects of their clinical experience and techniques with the faculty. The training course may be terminated if the trainee's performance and attitude to patient care services does not measure up to the Institutions expectations.

    Candidates who have competed MS or MD or DNB or Diploma in Ophthalmology (DOMS).
