Fellowship in Medical Education

The Medical Education Fellowship offered by the Department of Emergency Medicine at UCSF School of Medicine is a one-year advanced fellowship program designed for graduating Emergency Medicine residents who wish to develop expertise in medical teaching, curriculum design, educational evaluation, and medical education research. The program provides fellows with experience across undergraduate medical education (UME), graduate medical education (GME), and continuing medical education (CME). Fellows participate in bedside and classroom teaching, develop educational projects, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in scholarly activities related to medical education. The fellowship also includes clinical responsibilities as attending physicians in the Emergency Department, with opportunities to teach medical students and residents. Fellows may additionally pursue a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree from UC Berkeley through an optional second fellowship year.

1. Submit a Letter of Interest describing your interest in medical education and career goals
2. Submit an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
3. Submit Three Letters of Recommendation, including one letter from the residency program director
4. Application documents should be emailed to the Fellowship Administrator for review
5. Selected applicants may be contacted for further discussion/interview as part of the selection process
