The Low Vision Rehabilitation Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a one-year clinical optometric fellowship focused on the evaluation and rehabilitation of patients with visual impairment. Fellows receive specialized training at the UAB Center for Low Vision Rehabilitation and gain exposure to glaucoma, retina, pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, and contact lenses. The program also includes ophthalmology lectures, grand rounds, clinical research opportunities, and interdisciplinary patient care, preparing fellows for careers in clinical practice, private practice, or academic medicine.
