Fellowship in Laryngology

1. Applicants must be graduates of a United States medical school.
2. Applicants must have completed the appropriate residency training required for advanced laryngology fellowship training.
3. Applicants must be eligible to obtain Alabama medical licensure.
4. Applicants must be able to bill independently.
5. International medical graduates are not eligible for this fellowship because the program specifically requires graduation from a United States medical school.

The Laryngology Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a one-year advanced training program focused on the diagnosis and surgical management of voice, airway, swallowing, and laryngeal disorders. Fellows receive comprehensive hands-on training in microlaryngeal surgery, laryngeal framework surgery, vocal fold injection augmentation, Botox procedures, laser treatment, endoscopic and open airway surgery, and complex airway reconstruction. The program also provides multidisciplinary clinical exposure, research opportunities, operative teaching, and participation in specialized academic conferences, preparing fellows for advanced clinical and surgical practice in laryngology.

1. Submit a letter of intent explaining the applicant's interest in the Laryngology Fellowship.
2. Submit an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
3. Submit three letters of recommendation from faculty members in the applicant's residency program.
4. The application materials are reviewed by the UAB Laryngology Fellowship program.
5. Selected applicants participate in the interview process.
6. Interviews take place from January through April of the Post-Graduate Year 4 (PGY-4) year.
7. The fellowship match occurs in May of the Post-Graduate Year 4 year.
