The Interventional Cardiology Training Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), Baltimore is a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship that provides advanced, comprehensive training in the diagnosis and catheter-based treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The program is designed to equip fellows with the clinical expertise, technical proficiency, and leadership skills required to manage patients with complex coronary, structural, and peripheral vascular conditions. Through extensive hands-on experience in a high-volume tertiary care setting, fellows develop expertise in diagnostic cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), complex and high-risk coronary procedures, intravascular imaging, coronary physiology assessment, mechanical circulatory support, and the management of acute cardiovascular emergencies. The curriculum also offers exposure to advanced structural heart interventions, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), mitral and tricuspid valve therapies, left atrial appendage occlusion, and other minimally invasive procedures. In addition to clinical training, fellows actively participate in multidisciplinary heart team discussions, academic conferences, research projects, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching activities. The program emphasizes evidence-based practice, innovation, patient-centered care, and professional development, preparing graduates for independent practice and leadership roles in interventional cardiology within academic medical centers and advanced healthcare institutions.
