Fellowship in Head and Neck Oncological and Reconstructive Surgery

The Head and Neck Oncologic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides advanced, comprehensive training in the surgical management of head and neck cancers and complex reconstructive conditions. The one-year fellowship offers extensive experience in head and neck oncologic surgery, endocrine surgery, microvascular reconstruction, endoscopic skull base surgery, and multidisciplinary cancer care. Fellows work closely with experienced faculty and specialists while developing advanced operative skills, clinical decision-making, research capabilities, and academic expertise. The program also provides exposure to multidisciplinary tumor boards, clinical and basic research, and opportunities for teaching and professional development.

1. Register with the American Head and Neck Society.
2. Complete and submit the fellowship application through the American Head and Neck Society application system.
3. Applicants who completed medical education outside the United States or Canada must register with the American Head and Neck Society and complete the separate international application process.
4. The submitted applications are reviewed for eligibility and suitability for the fellowship.
5. Selected candidates participate in the fellowship interview and selection process.
6. One fellow is selected for the one-year Head and Neck Oncologic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship each year.
