The Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides advanced clinical and surgical training in the comprehensive management of hand, wrist, elbow, and upper-extremity conditions. Fellows gain experience in acute trauma, complex hand reconstruction, peripheral nerve and brachial plexus disorders, congenital conditions, pediatric injuries, sports-related injuries, microsurgery, and flap reconstruction. The program provides progressive operative responsibility along with opportunities for research, teaching, journal clubs, cadaver laboratories, and microvascular training, preparing fellows for advanced practice in hand and upper-extremity surgery.
