The Gastrointestinal/Hepatobiliary Pathology Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides one year of advanced training in the diagnosis of diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary system. Fellows gain extensive experience with gastrointestinal and pancreatobiliary specimens and participate in multidisciplinary gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary oncology, and liver transplant conferences. The program provides progressive responsibility in case sign-out, exposure to immunohistochemical and molecular diagnostic techniques, structured teaching sessions, research opportunities, and opportunities to participate in selected Pediatric Surgical Pathology cases.
