About Course

The Gastroenterology Fellowship at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine is a three-year program built to develop strong clinicians in gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy, and nutrition. The training is anchored at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, with affiliated ambulatory sites supporting longitudinal outpatient experience and broad clinical exposure. During the second year, fellows rotate at Tisch Hospital for transplant hepatology, giving the program a strong transplant-oriented component.
Fellows rotate through general inpatient gastroenterology, hepatobiliary services, nutrition, inpatient and outpatient hepatology, transplant hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease, inpatient and outpatient endoscopy, and ambulatory gastroenterology. The program uses a competency-based endoscopy curriculum, starting with standard upper and lower endoscopic procedures and progressing to more complex investigational and therapeutic techniques in later years.
The didactic curriculum includes case-based learning, lecture-discussion sessions, monthly pathology and radiology conferences, and specialized hepatology and inflammatory bowel disease conferences. Fellows also have access to electronic board-review resources and are encouraged to join virtual grand rounds from the Manhattan campus.
Research is an important part of the fellowship. Under faculty guidance, fellows can pursue clinical research in pancreatic disease, motility disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disorders, and endoscopy advances, and they have presented work at major national meetings and NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine’s House Staff Research Day. The program is designed to prepare fellows for academic practice, clinical practice, or further subspecialty training.
