Fellowship in Functional Neurosurgery

The Movement Disorders Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center provides advanced training in the diagnosis and management of complex movement disorders, with significant exposure to functional neurosurgery and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). Fellows gain experience in evaluating patients for surgical treatment, participating in DBS procedures, programming and managing implanted devices, and providing comprehensive care for conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, essential tremor, and other movement disorders. The program also offers multidisciplinary clinical training, exposure to neurophysiology and stereotactic procedures, and opportunities for clinical research and academic development.

5. Three letters of recommendation, including one from the residency program director
6. United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX-USA) Steps 1–3 scores

4. The program reviews eligible applications and conducts the selection/interview process.
5. Selected candidates complete Cedars-Sinai credentialing, California medical licensing, and Graduate Medical Education onboarding requirements before starting the fellowship.
