Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgery

The Foot and Ankle Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine provides advanced clinical and surgical training in the comprehensive management of adult foot and ankle conditions. Fellows gain hands-on experience in conservative treatment, foot and ankle trauma, arthroscopy, total ankle replacement, Achilles tendon reconstruction, complex hindfoot procedures, and other reconstructive surgeries. Training includes clinical care, operative experience, research, weekly conferences, journal clubs, and teaching alongside orthopaedic surgery residents and faculty.

2. Submit the required fellowship application materials as instructed by the program.
3. The application is reviewed by the fellowship faculty and program leadership.
4. Selected candidates proceed through the interview and selection process.
5. The selected fellows receive a UAB instructor appointment.
6. International candidates must have passed United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3 and meet Alabama medical licensure requirements
