About Course

The Cornea Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a one-year advanced clinical fellowship focused on the diagnosis and management of complex corneal and external eye diseases. Fellows receive extensive training in corneal transplantation, including penetrating and lamellar keratoplasty, endothelial keratoplasty, pterygium surgery, infectious and inflammatory corneal disorders, ocular surface disease, limbal stem cell transplantation, amniotic membrane transplantation, ocular surface tumors, and anterior segment reconstruction. The program also provides progressive surgical responsibility and opportunities to teach and supervise ophthalmology residents in clinical and surgical settings.
