Overview

    The two years fellowship program in comprehensive ophthalmology comprises technical instruction in modern methods of eye care, extensive work experience and complete patient care. It prepares candidates for a professional career in comprehensive ophthalmology with the ability to manage an eye care centre independently.

    TRAINING PHASES:

    Phase-1:During this period the fellows will be posted in General OPD & Camps. (Refraction, Contact Lens, Low visual Aids, Orthoptics, CVS clinics) At the same time they will also be trained extensively in all the cataract surgery techniques. This tenure is extended or reduced based on individual competencies achieved.

    Phase-2: Clinical rotation: During this period the fellows would be rotated in various subspecialties at the Institute to gain exposure in all the fields of ophthalmology. Glaucoma, Retina Cornea, and Phaco refractive

    Phase-3:Posting at a secondary center: This is the time that fellows will learn to manage clinics and operate independently and also gain expertise in managing a secondary level center

    Phase-4: Subspecialty: This period has been allotted for the subspecialty training. This elective is confirmed on the basis of performance in phase 1, 2, 3 comprehensive ophthalmology.

    POSTING SCHEDULE:

    6 Months - General Ophthalmology OPD

    2 Months - Phaco & Refractive Surgery

    2 Months - Glaucoma Surgery

    2 Months - Cornea Surgery

    2 Months - Vitreo Retina Surgery

    4 Months - Branch Postings

    6 Months - Speciality of their Choice
