Overview
The Clinical Psychology Residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a postdoctoral, APA-accredited training program designed to cultivate advanced clinical competencies for psychologists preparing for independent practice at the highest professional level. The residency embraces a scientist-practitioner model, which integrates clinical service, assessment, intervention, consultation, and scholarly activity. Participants train in one of several emphasis areas — including pediatric psychology, clinical child psychology, and psycho-oncology — receiving intensive supervision alongside multidisciplinary clinical teams. The program fosters cultural competence, evidence-based assessment and intervention methods, and professional ethical standards. Through hands-on clinical experiences, didactic seminars, and research opportunities, residents refine their ability to conduct advanced evaluations and deliver tailored treatments to diverse patient populations. This residency prepares graduates for leadership in clinical practice settings, academic institutions, and roles requiring high levels of psychological service skill.
