Fellowship in Clinical Hematology

1. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
2. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
3. Valid ECFMG certification for international medical graduates (if applicable).
4. Application through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).
5. Participation in the NRMP Fellowship Match.
6. Strong academic record, clinical exposure to oncology/haematology, and letters of recommendation.

The Hematology & Oncology Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a comprehensive three-year super-specialty training program designed to develop expert clinician-scientists in blood disorders and cancer care. The program provides balanced training in both malignant and benign hematology as well as solid and hematologic oncology. Fellows gain extensive exposure to inpatient and outpatient oncology services, bone marrow transplantation support, hematopathology correlation, transfusion medicine, and advanced cancer therapeutics including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies. Training is conducted at OU Health and affiliated cancer centers, ensuring experience with complex tertiary and quaternary referral cases. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based medicine, multidisciplinary tumor boards, clinical trials, and translational research. Fellows actively participate in research, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives. Graduates are fully prepared for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification in Hematology and Medical Oncology and for careers in academic medicine, comprehensive cancer centers, or advanced clinical oncology practice.
