Fellowship in Clinical Chemistry

The Clinical Chemistry Fellowship at the University of Minnesota is a 2-year program designed to prepare clinical chemists for leadership roles in clinical chemistry and clinical laboratory science. The training integrates patient care, clinical laboratory service, laboratory management, research, education, and administration, with fellows developing expertise in laboratory testing and clinical research while preparing to serve physicians and patients. The program is accredited by COMACC (Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry).

1. Complete the fellowship application form.
2. Submit the required CV and letter of intent/cover letter.
3. MD applicants submit USMLE/COMLEX scores, medical diploma, and three letters of recommendation.
4. PhD applicants submit a CV, career-goal/relevant-experience cover letter, transcript, and three recommendation letters.
5. Email the completed application to Gaby Heinle, Residency and Fellowship Coordinator.
6. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis; the department recommends applying by October 1 of the year before the fellowship start date.
7. Selected applicants are invited for an interview, with Clinical Chemistry interviews generally conducted during the summer before the fellowship begins.
