Fellowship in Child Abuse Pediatrics

• Successfully complete an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics Residency.
• Be board-eligible in Pediatrics.
• Meet Illinois medical licensure requirements.

• Submit three letters of recommendation, including one from the Pediatrics Residency Program Director.

The Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a three-year ACGME-accredited fellowship based at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, one of the largest pediatric academic medical centers in the United States. The program is designed to train future academic leaders and clinical experts in child abuse pediatrics through a balanced curriculum of clinical care, research, education, and advocacy. Fellows gain extensive experience managing children with suspected physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, medical child abuse, and other forms of maltreatment through a high-volume inpatient consultation service and expanding outpatient clinics. Clinical education is complemented by electives in forensic pathology, pediatric radiology, orthopedic surgery, dermatology, burn management, toxicology, trauma care, and participation in the Cook County Child Death Review Team. The fellowship includes structured didactic lectures, weekly multidisciplinary conferences, journal clubs, courtroom testimony training, and advocacy initiatives. Fellows also complete mentored research projects with opportunities to present at regional and national scientific meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals. A dedicated Research Track is available for trainees pursuing academic research careers in child abuse pediatrics.
