Fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry

• Must have completed an accredited residency in Neurology or Psychiatry
• Must be board eligible or board certified (ABPN)
• Must be eligible for medical licensure in Illinois (USA)
• Strong interest in cognitive neurology, behavioral disorders, and neuropsychiatry
• For international applicants:
• Must have ECFMG certification
• Must meet visa requirements

The Fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry at UIC is a two-year, UCNS-accredited interdisciplinary training program that focuses on the diagnosis and management of cognitive, behavioral, and neuropsychiatric disorders. The program integrates training from both neurology and psychiatry, providing fellows with comprehensive exposure to conditions such as dementia, memory disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and brain–behavior syndromes. Fellows work in a multidisciplinary clinical environment, gaining hands-on experience in specialized clinics, inpatient services, and collaborative care settings. The curriculum includes structured didactics, case conferences, and research opportunities, helping fellows develop skills in clinical care, academic scholarship, and teaching. Overall, the program prepares physicians for advanced clinical practice and board certification in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry, as well as careers in academic medicine and research.
