The Allergy and Immunology Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a comprehensive joint adult and pediatric training program that provides fellows with clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of allergic and immunologic disorders. Training includes food and drug challenges, oral immunotherapy, drug desensitization, allergen immunotherapy, immunoglobulin replacement therapy, and inpatient allergy and immunology consultations. Fellows rotate through Children's of Alabama, UAB Kirklin Clinic, Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and other affiliated clinical sites. The program also provides opportunities for electives in areas such as dermatology, gastroenterology, pulmonary medicine, and otolaryngology, along with regular conferences, journal clubs, research, and quality-improvement activities.
