Fellowship in Adult Infectious Disease

The Adult Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a comprehensive advanced training program focused on developing expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of complex infectious diseases affecting adults. The program provides fellows with extensive clinical exposure through inpatient and outpatient services, covering areas such as HIV/AIDS, antimicrobial resistance, hospital-acquired infections, transplant-related infections, tuberculosis, tropical medicine, and emerging infectious diseases. Fellows receive structured training in clinical decision-making, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, epidemiology, and evidence-based patient care. The fellowship also emphasizes research development, offering opportunities to participate in clinical studies, laboratory research, and global health projects. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles in academic medicine, infectious disease consultancy, public health, and research.

1. Applicants must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) during the designated application period
2. Applicants must register through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Infectious Disease Subspecialty Match Program for fellowship appointment
3. The application requires submission of the following documents:

• Three letters of recommendation (including one from the residency program director or Department of Medicine Chairperson)

• Official medical school transcripts
• Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)

• Valid ECFMG certificate for graduates of foreign medical schools
