The Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine – Rockford is a one-year, ACGME-accredited clinical fellowship that provides comprehensive training in the care of patients with serious, chronic, and life-limiting illnesses. The program focuses on symptom management, pain control, communication, advance care planning, hospice care, and interdisciplinary teamwork across inpatient, outpatient, hospice, and home-based settings. Fellows work closely with physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other healthcare professionals while participating in clinical rotations, scholarly activities, and quality improvement projects. The fellowship prepares graduates to deliver compassionate, evidence-based palliative care and assume leadership roles in hospice and palliative medicine across academic and clinical practice settings.
