Fellowship Course in Oncology

The Oncology Fellowship (Hematology/Oncology) at UCSF School of Medicine is an advanced subspecialty training program focused on the comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of cancer and blood disorders. Fellows receive extensive clinical exposure to solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and stem cell transplantation across both inpatient and outpatient settings. The program emphasizes multidisciplinary care through active participation in tumor boards alongside surgery, radiation oncology, and pathology teams. In addition to clinical training, there is a strong focus on research and academic development, with opportunities in clinical trials, translational research, and laboratory-based oncology, along with dedicated research time. The fellowship also provides hands-on experience in procedures such as bone marrow biopsy and advanced diagnostic interpretation, preparing fellows for careers in academic oncology, research, or specialized clinical practice.
