Overview
The Neuroanesthesia Fellowship at University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOM), Chicago is a 12-month (1-year) advanced training program focused on anesthetic management of complex neurosurgical cases. Fellows spend the majority of training in intracranial and spine surgeries, along with rotations in neuro-ICU, neurointerventional radiology, and neuromonitoring, and also participate in academic activities, research, and weekly conferences to develop expertise in perioperative neurological care and independent subspecialty practice.

Eligibility
- Must have completed an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency (MD/DO or equivalent)
- Must be board eligible or board certified in anesthesiology
- Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Illinois
- Strong clinical background and interest in neuroanesthesia and neurosurgical care
- Ability to meet institutional requirements for appointment (including credentials and documentation)

Admission Process:
- Download & complete the fellowship application form from UICOM (for neuroanesthesia fellowship)
- Prepare required documents:
- Updated CV
- Personal statement (reason for pursuing neuroanesthesia)
- 2–3 Letters of Recommendation (including one from residency program director)
- USMLE Step 1, 2, 3 scores (as applicable)
- Submit application
- Email the completed application and documents to the program director or send by mail to the department
- Application review
- The fellowship committee evaluates applications on qualifications and fit
- Interview invitation
- Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview (clinical & academic evaluation)
- Final selection & offer
- Selected candidates receive an offer letter after interview
- Acceptance & onboarding
- Complete credentialing, documentation, and join the program
