Fellowship Course in Cytopathology

• Must hold an MD or DO degree (or equivalent international medical degree)
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP
• Must be board-eligible or board-certified in Pathology
• Eligible for medical licensure in Maryland (USA)
• International applicants must have ECFMG certification and meet visa requirements (if applicable)
• Strong interest in cytopathology and diagnostic pathology practice

The Cytopathology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a one-year ACGME-accredited program that provides advanced training in diagnostic cytopathology, focusing on both gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens. Fellows develop expertise in microscopic evaluation of cytology samples, perform fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures, and provide on-site adequacy assessment for both superficial and image-guided aspirates. The program emphasizes a strong combination of clinical service, teaching, and research, exposing trainees to a high volume and diverse range of cases while enhancing their diagnostic accuracy and procedural skills, ultimately preparing them for independent practice and board certification in cytopathology.
