Family Medicine Residency

1. Must submit a completed application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE) is required.
3. At least 3 letters of recommendation, including at least 1 from a Primary Care Physician.
4. Official medical school transcripts are required.
5. Official United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA) transcripts are required.
6. Personal statement is required.
7. International Medical Graduates must provide a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate.
8. Medical school graduation should have occurred within 5 years of applying.
9. There is no Step/COMLEX examination score cutoff or restriction.
10. The institution does not sponsor visas; only J-1 visas sponsored through the ECFMG Exchange Visitor Sponsorship Program are accepted.

The Family Medicine Residency Program at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center provides comprehensive three-year training in family medicine and primary care. Residents receive broad clinical experience in outpatient and inpatient medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency medicine, geriatrics, women's health, behavioral health, sports medicine, and dermatology. The program emphasizes continuity of care, preventive medicine, community health, and care for diverse and underserved populations. Residents progressively develop clinical, procedural, teaching, leadership, and patient-care skills through supervised training and multidisciplinary experiences.

1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Submit the Medical School Performance Evaluation, at least 3 letters of recommendation, official medical school transcripts, official USMLE or COMLEX-USA transcripts, and personal statement.
3. International Medical Graduates must also submit a valid ECFMG certificate through ERAS.
4. The selection committee conducts a holistic review of completed applications.
5. Selected applicants are invited to the interview process.
6. For the 2026–2027 interview season, interviews are conducted virtually from late October 2026 through early January 2027.
7. The program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
