The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a 2.5-year, 8-semester professional program designed to prepare students for entry-level practice as physical therapists. The curriculum combines foundational sciences, classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory training, clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and progressive clinical education. Students complete 116 credit hours, including 38 weeks of clinical education, with clinical experiences beginning in the second semester and culminating in a final 16-week clinical internship. The program develops competencies in patient-centered care, movement science, clinical decision-making, teamwork, and safe and effective physical therapy practice.
