Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a 2.5-year, 8-semester professional program designed to prepare students for entry-level practice as physical therapists. The curriculum combines foundational sciences, classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory training, clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and progressive clinical education. Students complete 116 credit hours, including 38 weeks of clinical education, with clinical experiences beginning in the second semester and culminating in a final 16-week clinical internship. The program develops competencies in patient-centered care, movement science, clinical decision-making, teamwork, and safe and effective physical therapy practice.

1. Apply through PTCAS (Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service)
2. Submit all required transcripts and application materials through PTCAS
3. Submit 2 letters of recommendation
4. Complete the required PTCAS essay and University of Colorado-specific program essays
5. Report completed, in-progress, and planned prerequisite courses in PTCAS
6. Pay the University of Colorado supplemental application fee
7. Ensure PTCAS verifies the application by the program's verification deadline
8. Selected applicants are invited for a virtual interview
9. Applicants receiving an offer must complete the required matriculation requirements, including outstanding prerequisites, official transcripts, technical standards, CPR/BLS certification, immunizations, and other required documentation
