The PhD in Experimental Pathology at UTMB is offered through the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and provides comprehensive research training in disease mechanisms, host-pathogen interactions, infectious disease pathogenesis, biodefense, vaccine development, and cellular pathology. The curriculum begins with foundational coursework in biomedical sciences such as biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, and research methodology, followed by laboratory rotations to explore faculty research environments and select a dissertation mentor. As students advance, they undertake original, hypothesis-driven research leading to a doctoral dissertation under the supervision of research faculty.
