Overview

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Sydney is a postgraduate professional programme designed to develop skilled, ethical and clinically capable physicians. The curriculum integrates early clinical exposure, biomedical sciences, population health, medical research and professional development. Students progress through stages where they engage in patient-centred learning, participate in clinical placements (including metropolitan and regional settings such as the Dubbo stream) and undertake a significant research-based MD project. The programme emphasises teamwork, professionalism, indigenous and rural health contexts, and equips graduates to enter medical practice with eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
