Overview

    1. The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) at the University of Sydney is a three-year full-time specialist programme designed for qualified dentists who wish to become certified specialists in periodontics.
    2. Students will engage in intensive clinical training in diagnosing, planning and managing periodontal disease and peri-implant conditions, including complex surgical interventions (gum surgery, bone grafting, implant placement/maintenance) and maintenance of periodontal health in challenging cases.
    3. The curriculum combines coursework (units of study in clinical periodontics, periodontology, implant introduction, and advanced implant management) with extensive patient-based clinical experience at specialist dental facilities such as the Sydney Dental Hospital and the Westmead Centre for Oral Health.
    4. On graduation, students are eligible to apply for specialist registration in Periodontics via the Dental Board of Australia (or equivalent jurisdiction), and are prepared for roles in specialist practices, hospital departments and academic/research settings.
