    The Department of Pulmonary Medicine caters to a wide spectrum of diseases of the chest ranging from airway disorders like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, infections like pneumonias and tuberculosis, pleural disorders, carcinomas of the respiratory tract, occupation-related lung disorders, lung diseases and sleep disorders. The Department has already started thoracic endoscopic services like video-bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy and advanced sleep study and is soon going to start EBUS & rigid bronchoscopy. The department is committed to deliver quality clinical services to all patients suffering from respiratory illnesses.

Eligibility

    A candidate must have passed the M.D. degree in Surgery of this Institute or any other University or any other equivalent degree recognized by the MCI.

MD (Doctor of Medicine)

Admission Process:

    Selection for DM courses are made through 2 Stage Performance Evaluation basis.

    • Stage I: Written-test carrying 80 marks of 90 minutes duration in the subject the candidate has applied for. The question paper will consist of 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
    • Stage II: Out of the candidates who have secured 50% or more marks [as per the decision of the meeting of the 116th Academic Committee (item No.AC/116/10 dated 06.03.2018) in the written test (Stage-I), candidates 3 times the number of seats advertised will be called for departmental clinical/practical/lab-based assessment (carrying 20 marks).

    Final Selection: The final result will be declared based on the basis of total marks obtained in stage-1 and Stage-II Examination.
