Overview
The department specialises in the treatment of gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreatico-biliary illnesses. The department has its own seminar room for regular instructional programmes. The department's faculty member has been involved in research, publication, and teaching of MBBS, PG, and DM students. Additionally, we hold combined rounds with the faculty and resident doctors of the department of surgical gastroenterology, as well as gastroenterology-radiology meetings to discuss pertinent cases.

Eligibility
A candidate must have passed the M.S. degree in Surgery of this Institute or any other University or any other equivalent degree recognized by the MCI.
Minimum Education
MS (Master of Surgery)
Admission Process:
- Stage I: Written-test carrying 80 marks of 90 minutes duration in the subject the candidate has applied for. The question paper will consist of 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Stage II: Out of the candidates who have secured 50% or more marks [as per the decision of the meeting of the 116th Academic Committee (item No.AC/116/10 dated 06.03.2018) in the written test (Stage-I), candidates 3 times the number of seats advertised will be called for departmental clinical/practical/lab-based assessment (carrying 20 marks).

Selection for M.Ch courses are made through 2 Stage Performance Evaluation basis.
