The DM in Critical Care Medicine at RIMS Ranchi is a rigorous three-year super-speciality program designed to train doctors in advanced critical care practices. The course is conducted by the Department of Critical Care, Trauma, and Emergency Medicine, which operates a 40-bed medical ICU in a dedicated trauma and emergency building. Given RIMS’s status as a tertiary-care government institute, students experience a high patient load and a broad spectrum of critically ill cases, enabling strong clinical exposure in ventilatory management, sepsis, multi-organ support, and hemodynamic monitoring. The department also runs multidisciplinary academic activities such as seminars, journal clubs, and case discussions frequently, promoting a learning-rich environment. Although the DM is yet to be very old at RIMS (the website mentions the plan to start), the institute already conducts a PDCC (Post-Doctoral Certificate Course) in Critical Care Medicine, which indicates a strong foundational infrastructure.
