Overview

  1. The Diploma in Radiotherapeutic Technology (DRT / DRTT) at Jhargram Government Medical College & Hospital is a structured paramedical diploma program designed to produce skilled radiotherapy technicians/assistants under the supervision of experienced clinicians. The course is conducted under the academic and regulatory framework of the State Medical Faculty of West Bengal (SMFWB), ensuring adherence to standardised curriculum and assessment norms.
  2. Over the two‑year academic period, students study the fundamental principles of radiation physics, anatomy and physiology related to radiotherapy, radiotherapy techniques, radiation protection, treatment planning, clinical patient care, and equipment operation. Classroom instruction is complemented by hands‑on training in clinical settings where students learn to assist in therapeutic radiation procedures for cancer treatment. After completing the academic portion, students undergo a six‑month compulsory practical training/internship, gaining valuable experience in hospital radiotherapy departments. Upon successful completion, diploma holders can work as Radiotherapy Technicians/Technologists in hospitals, cancer care centres, diagnostic & treatment units, and other healthcare facilities where radiation therapy is administered.
