Diploma in Psychiatry (DPM)

1. MBBS from a recognised institution.
2. Internship completed or to be completed by the date specified for admission.
3. Valid NEET-PG score. For example, the minimum percentile for general category is around 50th.
4. MBBS registration certificate (NMC / State Medical Council).

The PG Diploma in Psychological Medicine (often referred to as a DPM-like diploma) at RIMS Ranchi is a two-year program aimed at equipping doctors with strong psychiatric knowledge and clinical skills in mental health. The Psychiatry Department at RIMS provides services in outpatient consultations, inpatient psychiatric care, and liaison with other clinical departments. During the course, students are exposed to a wide variety of psychiatric cases including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety, substance abuse, and more. The program also involves practical training in psychiatric assessment, pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy basics, and crisis interventions. Given RIMS’s status as a government tertiary-care institute, students are likely to work in a busy clinical setting with diverse patient exposure. The course enables graduates to work in mental health settings (psychiatric units, community psychiatry, de-addiction centres) and offers a stepping-stone to further specialization (MD Psychiatry or DNB Psychiatry).

2. NEET-PG Results — Obtain a valid score above RIMS’s cutoff.
3. PG Diploma Counselling — Participate in the state / national counselling process for diploma courses.
4. Seat Allotment — Seats are allotted based on NEET-PG rank, category, and availability.
5. Document Verification — Verify MBBS degree, internship certificate, NEET-PG scorecard, registration certificate, identity proof, etc.
6. Fee Payment & Joining — Pay the course fee and complete admission formalities at RIMS. (Fee as per institute)
