Pharmacy education in India has undergone tremendous changes in order to meet the requirements of the health care industry and the community at large. In order to cater to the needs of the profession of pharmacy, a short version of the pharmacy program namely Diploma Pharmacy (D.Pharm) has been developed and offered to the students with PUC/Pre-degree/10+2. Thus, a large number of students can now pursue their interest in the profession of pharmacy through D.Pharm and register themselves as certified pharmacists. These registered pharmacists can practice either in community or hospital pharmacy stores. Post-D.Pharm, the students can pursue higher studies in Pharmacy by joining B. Pharm or B.Pharm-Lateral programs.
