Passed 10+2 / I.Sc. (or equivalent) from a recognised board.

Admission through JCECEB paramedical counselling (as indicated on the paramedical institute’s website).

Must satisfy merit/category criteria in counselling for the 5 available seats.

The Government Paramedical Institute at Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College began offering diploma paramedical courses from the 2023-24 academic year, following approval from the Jharkhand State Paramedical Council. For the Ophthalmic Assistant diploma, the institute offers 5 seats. Over two years, students receive training in ocular anatomy, optics, refraction techniques, vision testing, and using ophthalmic diagnostic instruments. Because the course is part of a medical college, students benefit from clinical exposure in the college hospital’s eye department. The training combines classroom theory with hands-on practical experience, preparing graduates for roles in hospitals, vision centres, private eye clinics, and community eye-care programs.

1. Register via JCECEB (Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board) when the paramedical counselling window opens.
2. Select the “Ophthalmic Assistant” diploma under the Government Paramedical Institute of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College.
3. Seat allotment (5 seats) is done based on merit, category, and seat availability.
4. Report to the institute with required documents (10+2 mark sheet, ID proof, counselling allotment letter, etc.).
5. Pay fees as per the fee structure (see their fee-structure PDF) and enrol in the 2-year diploma.
