Candidate should have passed higher secondary examination 10+2 of Govt. of Kerala or equivalent recognized by DME, Govt. of Kerala. A minimum of 45 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology course is recognized by the Government of Kerala, Paramedical Council and affiliated to Directorate of Medical Education, Trivandrum.
On successful completion of the course, the candidate will have to undergo 800 hours of Hospital training and 1143 hours of practical training during the course. After finishing diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology with successfully, one will be registered as laboratory technician by Paramedical council, Govt. of Kerala. One will receive a license to open a Laboratory.
In our country, there are a lot of Hospital and other private sectors which provide job opportunities to the DMLT candidates. They can work as Clinical Laboratory technician / Blood bank technician/ Cyto technician/ Histopathology technician / Biochemistry technician/ Microbiology Technician / Diary lab technician/ Water & food quality analyzer/Technician in sewage treatment plant/ Lab assistant etc.
