The Government Paramedical Institute at Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College, Hazaribagh, began its paramedical diploma programs from the 2023-24 academic session, following approval by the Jharkhand State Paramedical Council. They offer 2 seats for the Hearing, Language & Speech Therapy Technician diploma. Over the two years, students are trained in basic audiology, speech and language assessment, rehabilitation techniques, and the use of diagnostic tools like audiometers. They also gain practical exposure in a clinical setting (hospital) for hearing tests, speech therapy sessions, and patient counselling. Being part of a medical college provides them access to the associated hospital’s infrastructure and supervising speech–language pathologists/audiologists. After completing the course, graduates can work in hospitals, speech therapy clinics, community hearing centres, and rehabilitation institutes.
