Diploma in Anesthesia Technology

Overview

Anesthesia Technology is a paramedical training program designed to prepare students to support anesthesiologists in the safe delivery of anesthesia care. Through a mix of theoretical instruction and hands-on clinical practice, students learn anatomy and physiology, anesthesia pharmacology, operation of anesthesia machines, monitoring equipment, ventilators, and other critical life-support devices. Training also covers patient evaluation before surgery, intra-operative monitoring, post-operative care, pain management, and emergency procedures related to anesthesia. Graduates are expected to be proficient in preparing and maintaining sterilized equipment and supplies, following safety protocols, timely response to anesthesia complications, and effective communication with surgical and nursing teams. The curriculum’s practical component in hospitals or OT/ICU settings gives students exposure to real situations, ensuring they are job-ready to work in hospitals, surgical centers, and healthcare facilities.

Eligibility

• Must have passed 10+2 / Higher Secondary from a recognized board.
• Science subjects often required (PCB).
• Minimum aggregate marks (often ~45-50%) depending on institute.
• Good physical health; may need to clear medical fitness.
• Sometimes age limit (e.g. 17-18 years and above).
