Diploma in Anesthesia

1. MBBS degree from a recognised medical college.

4. Minimum NEET-PG percentile required: e.g., 50th percentile for general category (other categories as specified by NMC / RIMS)
5. Valid MBBS registration certificate from NMC / State Medical Council.

The Department of Anaesthesiology at RIMS, Ranchi has a long-established PG training program, offering both MD and diploma courses. The PG Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) is a two-year full-time course designed to provide comprehensive theoretical and practical training in anaesthesia practice. Students are exposed to pre-anaesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anaesthesia management, postoperative care, and pain management, working across different surgical specialities. With emergency OT duties and exposure to high-stakes surgical environments, diploma students build a strong foundation in airway management, ventilatory support, and basic critical care. The relatively low tuition fee (around ₹ 13,000 for the full 2-year course) makes this program accessible, especially in a government tertiary institute. The RIMS Anesthesiology department also emphasises continuous learning via seminars, journal clubs, and hands-on OSCE-style training.

Appear for NEET-PG: Candidates must take the NEET-PG exam.

NEET-PG Results: Secure a valid NEET-PG score meeting the cutoff requirements.

Counselling: Participate in the PG counselling process (state / national as applicable) for diploma seats.

Seat Allotment: Based on NEET-PG rank, category, and seat availability.

Fee Payment & Joining: Pay the required tuition / institutional fee (₹ 13,000 for 2 years) , complete admission formalities, and join the DA program at RIMS.
