Colorectal Surgery Residency Program

1. Applicants must have a medical degree from an accredited medical school.
2. Applicants must submit a completed application through the Electronic Residency Application Service.
3. A minimum of three letters of recommendation is required.
4. Medical school transcripts are required.
5. A Medical Student Performance Evaluation or Dean’s Letter is required.
6. United States Medical Licensing Examination transcripts are required.
7. International medical graduates must provide an Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates status report.

The Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency Program at Keck School of Medicine of USC provides comprehensive advanced training in colorectal surgical care. The program offers experience in anorectal surgery, endoscopy, colon and rectal resections, laparoscopic and open procedures, complex and recurrent rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, continence-preserving procedures, and advanced endoscopic techniques. Residents also receive training in multidisciplinary patient management, clinical research, robotic surgery, and colorectal oncology, with opportunities for academic conferences and scholarly activities.

3. Submit the required application documents, including transcripts, personal statement, Medical Student Performance Evaluation or Dean’s Letter, letters of recommendation, photograph, and United States Medical Licensing Examination transcripts.
4. International medical graduates must also submit an Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates status report.
5. Applicants are considered for selection through the residency matching process.
